The End Of The Silliness?! Hardly! / 4
Bryan Duncan had often been regarded as CCM's "Wild Man", a reputation not entirely undeserved (in addition to the soulful screamin' he took a stab at rap on his previous album "Strong Medicine"... whew!). On "Lunatic", Duncan does not run way from his rep, he embraces it.

Many of his songs are unconventional to say the least, but still very listenable. His innovative lyrics explore legalism, freedom and strength in Christ, the desperation of a doubtful faith, and the sweet rest Jesus' grace provides. The music itself is almost as versitile as Duncan's golden pipes. He ranges from toe-tappin' gospel ("Sunday Go To Meetin'" & "Ain't No Stoppin' Now"), to smooth jazz ("Leave Your Light On For Me" & "All Is Forgiven"), to tender ballads ("Blessed Are The Tears" & "I Love You With My Life"), to the just plain wierd title track.

After this project, Duncan went on to more "serious" albums, but he always maintained the stong convictions that permeate every note of "Lunatic Friend".
Song "Take Heart"
There's a place
Only a heart can go
And without any word
Let your feelings flow
There's a voice
Only a soul can hear
In a cleansing rain
Falling soft and clear
Come to your troubled waters edge
Step in and you'll find me there
You'll find me there

Take heart
And I'll take your hand,
Be still and be strong,
We will reach the promise land
Take heart
God knows where we are
He won't let us down
He's brought us too far
Take heart

There's a wound
Jesus alone can touch
But it's so hard to face
'Cause it hearts so much
There's a pain
Only His cross can bear
And our only hope
Is to leave it there
Run to your troubled waters edge
Step in and you'll find me there
You'll find me there

Take heart,
And I'll take your hand
Be still and be strong
We will reach the promise land
Take heart
God knows where we are
He won't let us down
He's brought us too far

All around you His angels wait
And though the waves are cold
His wings are great
So trust, He's not gonna let you drown
He's gonna carry us across
To higher ground
Come to your troubled waters edge
And you'll have your miracle

Take heart
And I'll take your hand
Be still and be strong,
We will reach the promise land
Take heart
God knows where we are
He won't let us down
He's brought us too far
So take heart

Take heart
(And I'll take your hand)
Be still and be strong
(We will reach the promise land)
Take heart
(God knows where you are)
Oh, He won't let you down
(He's brought us too far)
So take heart
(And I'll take your hand)
Take heart!
Be still and be strong
(We will reach the promise land)
Take heart
(God knows where you are)
He won't let you down
(He's brought us too far)
So take heart
(And I'll take your hand)
So take heart
(We will reach the promise land)
Oh, be still and be strong, yeah
(God knows where you are)
He won't let you down
(He's brought us too far)
Won't let you down
(And I'll take your hand)
Take heart
Oh be still
