The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure, abridged by William Goldman

My introduction to The Princess Bride came in the form of an excerpt (the fabulous sword-fighting scene at the top of the Cliffs Of Despair) that was part of an anthology of science fiction and fantasy stories, which I had gotten at about the age of 13 or 14.

For many years after that I sort of casually kept an eye out for the entire book, but back then there wasn’t a great selection of books available cheaply in Trinidad.

Well, I almost couldn’t contain myself when I saw that someone had actually made The Princess Bride into a movie. And I wasn’t disappointed in the least – what a great flick! Inconceivable!

Finally, a few years ago I came across William Goldman’s re-telling of this wonderfully whimsical, yet totally action-packed tale. And now I have my very own copy of The Princess Bride and the movie too. Yeah!!! I highly recommend this one – both the book and The Princess Bride Movie – especially if you have kids.
