Strong’s Concordance

Strong’s Concordance is an exhaustive reference book that is a must for your personal bible study. I have the King James version with the Greek and Hebrew dictionaries and it is just fabulous! I believe that it may also be available for other versions of the bible as well.

Basically, what Mr. Strong did was to identify every single occurrence of a particular word – say “brother” for example – in the Bible, list every chapter and verse with the phrase containing that word and then give the exact hebrew or greek word that was used in the original manuscript. You can then go look up the original hebrew or greek word in the appropriate dictionary to find the original meaning(s). Then it’s up to you to decide whether or not you think the Bible translators got it right, or if there is another possible meaning that you think they should have used. Another nice feature is the phonetic information that’s included throughout – so you can finally figure out how to pronounce Mephibosheth.

In my opinion, the Strong’s Concordance should be the first Bible study tool in your library – after your Bible of course.

God bless!
